Searching Available Slots
The slots page shows two sections: arenas with available time slots at the top, and nearby arenas below. Use the filter bar to narrow results by sport, date, and time window.
What This Page Does
The /slots/advanced page helps you find a court and book it in one place. It combines two search modes on a single screen:
| Section | What it shows | When it’s useful |
|---|---|---|
| Available slots | Arenas that have free time matching your filters | When you know the date and time and want to book right away |
| Nearby arenas | Arenas close to your location, regardless of slot availability | When the first section runs out and you want to explore more options |
Both sections live on the same page — no mode switching needed. The page shows all matching arenas first, then offers nearby alternatives once that list is exhausted.
Filter Bar
The filter bar at the top provides quick filters for sport, date, and time. These filters apply instantly as you adjust them.
Sport
Sport selector
Pick one or more sports (for example, tennis or padel). The choice applies to both sections — only arenas that support the selected sports are shown.
All filters panel
For more control, click the “All filters” button to open an expanded filters panel. Here you can adjust:
- Country and city — narrow the results to one location
- Time (precise) — any start and end time, instead of a quick window
- Arena amenities — features like parking, Wi-Fi, showers, and lockers
- Facility amenities — court-specific features
- Price — a minimum and a maximum price
Important: Changes in the All filters panel are not applied immediately. You must click the “Apply” button at the bottom of the panel to update results. If you close the panel without clicking Apply, all unsaved changes are discarded.
Favorites Only
The Favorites only switch limits the whole search page to arenas you have added to your favorites. Open an arena and tap the heart to add it.
The switch sits in the filter bar at the top, after the time filter and before the All filters button. It is shared: one toggle applies to both sections at the same time. On screens 600 to 768 pixels wide, the switch shows only the heart icon; hover over it to see the label “Favorites only” as a tooltip.
| Part of the page | What changes with the switch on |
|---|---|
| Available slots | Only slots at your favorite arenas are searched and listed |
| Nearby arenas | Only favorite arenas close to you are shown |
| Arena map | The map shows only your favorite arenas |
The switch is part of the page address (favorites=1). A link with this flag opens the same filtered view.
Set Your Filters
Choose the city, sport, and dates as usual.
Turn On Favorites Only
Switch on Favorites only. Both sections now show only your favorite arenas.
Check the Results
Scan the Available slots section. Nearby arenas appear below it only after you reach the end of that list, and they show favorites only.
When Favorites Are Empty
If you have no favorite arenas yet, the page does not search for slots. Instead, it says “You have no favorite arenas yet” and suggests opening an arena and tapping the heart.
If you have favorites but no slots match your filters, the Available slots section shows this message instead of the usual no-results text: “No slots in your favorite arenas for these filters. Turn off “Favorites only” to see all arenas.” The Nearby arenas section appears below it only when the list is exhausted and at least one favorite arena is nearby.
When Favorites Fail to Load
If your favorites cannot be loaded, the page shows the message “Could not load your favorites. Try again.” with a Retry button. The full arena list is not shown in its place, so you never see results that ignore the switch. Click Retry to load your favorites again.
As a Guest
Favorites are linked to your account. If you are not signed in:
- Clicking Favorites only takes you to the sign-in page. After you sign in, you return to the same search.
- A link with
favorites=1opened without signing in ignores the flag, and you see the full list of arenas.
Section 1: Available slots
This is the primary search result. It lists arenas that have at least one free slot matching your filters. The section banner shows the section name and the totals for your results — the number of arenas, the number of courts, and the number of free slots matching your filters (for example: “Available slots · 3 arenas · 12 courts · 24 slots”).
How to Read an Arena Card
Arena Photo
A photo of the arena fills the top of the card. Below the photo you see the arena name. The next line shows the city, the country, and the distance from your location. Click the city line to see the arena on the map.
Facility List
Below the arena header, the card expands into a list of the individual playing surfaces (courts, halls, pitches) inside the arena. Each facility shows:
- Its own photo and name.
- A heatmap schedule — one row for each day of your selected dates, labelled with the date.
Reading the Heatmap
Each cell is one time slot of the court’s schedule, and it shows the slot’s start time:
- Yellow cell — this slot is free. The price is shown directly on the cell.
- Gray cell with a × — this slot is busy (booked, paid, or closed).
- Violet cell with a bag icon — this slot is already in your cart.
Hover over any cell to see a tooltip with the day, the exact time interval, the price (if the slot has one), and the status, such as “Available” or “Booked”.
The heatmap gives you a quick visual overview of each court across the selected dates. Click a yellow cell to add that slot to your cart, and click it again to remove it. Courts booked outside the portal open a booking request instead.
Occupancy Badge and Hot Facility Markers
While browsing arenas, you may see visual indicators about how busy an arena or facility is:
Occupancy Badge (on arena photos)
In the top-left corner of each arena photo, a small indicator shows how busy the entire arena is during your selected date range. It displays five dots and a percentage:
- Dots filled from left to right — the more dots filled, the busier the arena
- Percentage — the exact occupancy rate (for example, 45% or 72%)
- Color-coded:
- 🟢 Green (below 30%) — plenty of free slots, lots of choice
- 🟡 Yellow (30% to below 60%) — moderate occupancy, some options available
- 🔴 Red (60% and above) — getting busy, book soon if you like this arena
The occupancy badge reflects busy slots. Percentage = busy slots / total slots for the selected dates.
Hot Facility Marker (on facility photos)
Individual facilities inside an arena may also show a red badge with a fire icon in the top-right corner of their photo. This means:
- That specific facility is over 50% busy during your selected dates
- It’s a popular court — if you want it, book soon
- Other facilities in the same arena may still be free
Key Difference: The occupancy badge shows the overall arena status, while the hot marker shows which specific courts are in high demand within that arena. One arena could have busy courts and quiet ones at the same time.
If an arena or facility has no slots at all, neither badge appears — they only show when there’s data to display.
Infinite Scrolling
The list does not show all arenas at once. As you scroll down, more arenas load automatically — no need to click “Next page.”
Section 2: Nearby arenas
This section appears below the first one, but only after the Available slots list is fully exhausted. Think of it as a backup.
| What it does | Why it’s there |
|---|---|
| Shows arenas close to your location | Gives you options even when no arena has free slots matching your filters |
| Uses the sport filter | So basketball players don’t see tennis-only courts |
| Ignores date and time filters | Distance matters here — availability is checked on the arena’s own page |
The cards in this section are compact: a full-bleed photo with the arena name, city, and distance overlaid directly on the image. There are no time details here — click into an arena to see its full schedule.
Nearby arenas appear only after you’ve scrolled through every result in the Available slots section. If Section 1 keeps finding matches, Section 2 may not appear at all.
Amenities
You can filter by arena and facility amenities using the All filters panel (see above). Select the amenities you need — parking, Wi-Fi, showers, lockers, and others — and only arenas and courts with all selected amenities will appear in the results.
The search cards do not list amenities. To see the full list of amenities for a specific arena, open its page by clicking the card.
The amenities filter makes it easy to find arenas that meet your specific needs without cluttering the search cards.
How a Typical Search Goes
Set Your Filters
Pick the sport, date, and time window you want to play in.
Scan the Heatmap
For each arena, look at the yellow cells in the facility rows. A yellow cell means that time slot is available at that specific court. The price is right on the cell — no guessing.
Hover for Details
Hover over a cell to see the exact time slot, price, and status in a tooltip.
Pick a Slot
Click a yellow cell to add the slot to your cart, then check out from the cart. To open an arena’s page, click its card.
Out of Matches?
When there are no more arenas with matching slots, scroll down to see Nearby arenas — courts close to you worth exploring even without a direct time match.
On Mobile
On a phone, each arena card stacks vertically:
- The arena photo is full-width at the top.
- The list of facilities scrolls horizontally inside the card — swipe left or right to see all courts for that arena.
- Tap a yellow cell to add that slot to your cart.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do the yellow, gray, and violet cells in the schedule mean?
Each cell covers one time slot. Yellow means the slot is free at that specific court — the price is shown on the cell. Gray with a × means the slot is busy. Violet means the slot is already in your cart. Hover a cell to see the exact start and end time in 12-hour AM/PM format.
I see a price on the cell — is that the total price?
The price shown is for one slot of the standard duration at that court. Hover the cell to see the exact time interval the price applies to. The full breakdown is on the booking page.
How do I filter by amenities?
Open the All filters panel and select the amenities you need under “Arena amenities” and “Facility amenities.” Only arenas and courts with all selected amenities will appear in results. Remember to click Apply to apply your choices.
Why isn’t my filter applying?
If you’re using the All filters panel, make sure you clicked the Apply button. Changes don’t apply until you click it. Closing the panel without clicking Apply will discard all unsaved changes.
Why don’t I see the Nearby arenas section?
Nearby arenas appear only after the Available slots list is fully scrolled through. If matches keep loading in Section 1, Section 2 stays hidden until you reach the end.
Does the date filter affect Nearby arenas?
No. Nearby arenas is based on location and sport only — date and time are ignored, so you always see options around you even when nothing matches your time window.
How is distance calculated?
Distance is measured from your current location to the arena. The browser asks for your location permission the first time you visit the page. If you do not allow it, the page estimates your location from your network address, which is less precise.
What does the occupancy badge mean?
The small indicator on the arena photo (five dots + percentage) shows how busy that arena is for your selected dates. Green (under 30%) means plenty of free slots. Yellow (30% to under 60%) means moderate occupancy. Red (60% or more) means most slots are taken — book soon if you’re interested. The percentage includes all busy slots.
What is the “hot facility” marker?
A red badge with a fire icon on a facility photo means that specific court is over 50% busy during your selected dates. It’s a popular choice — if you want it, don’t wait. Other facilities in the same arena may still have lots of free time.
Why do I see different occupancy colors for the arena and its facilities?
The arena badge shows the overall average occupancy across all courts. Individual facility markers show which specific courts are hot. One arena can have some busy courts and some quiet ones. Look for facilities without the fire marker if you want more breathing room.
Why don’t I see any slots when Favorites only is on?
With Favorites only on, slots are searched at your favorite arenas only. If you have no favorites yet, the page explains this instead of searching for slots. If your favorites have no slots for the selected filters, the section shows the message “No slots in your favorite arenas for these filters. Turn off “Favorites only” to see all arenas.” To see every arena, switch Favorites only off.
Why does the page say “Could not load your favorites”?
The page could not get your favorites list. Click Retry. The full arena list is not shown in its place, so the results always match the Favorites only switch.
Why am I sent to the sign-in page when I click Favorites only?
Favorites are available to signed-in users only. After you sign in, the page returns you to the same search. If you open a favorites=1 link without signing in, the flag is ignored and you see all arenas.
