Creating an Organization

An organization is a workspace for your team. Create an organization to start collaborating, managing members, and configuring shared resources.

What is an Organization?

An organization in the Portal ecosystem is a centralized workspace for teams where you can:

  • Unite people — invite colleagues and create teams for collaboration
  • Manage access — assign roles and permissions for each member
  • Share resources — all members have access to shared settings and organization data
  • Scale your work — from small projects to large companies

Organization creation happens in your user profile (USR), after which management is done through the organization profile (ORG).

Step-by-Step Guide

Log in to the system and open your user profile. This is where all your personal settings and organization access are located.

Find the “My Organizations” Section

In the profile navigation menu, find the “My Organizations” section. This displays all organizations where you are a member or owner.

Click “Create Organization”

In the “My Organizations” section, click the “Create Organization” button. This will open the new organization creation form.

Fill in Required Fields

Provide basic information about the organization:

  • Organization Name — unique name that will be displayed throughout the system
  • Description (optional) — brief description of the organization’s goals and activities
  • URL Identifier — unique identifier for the organization’s address (e.g., my-company)

URL identifier cannot be changed after organization creation. Choose it carefully.

Select Organization Type

Choose the organization type that best describes its purpose:

TypeDescription
CompanyCommercial organization or business
ProjectTemporary project or initiative
CommunityNon-profit community or group
TeamWorking group within a larger organization

Confirm Creation

Review the entered data and click “Create”. The organization will be created instantly, and you will automatically become its owner.

After Creating an Organization

Congratulations! Your organization is created. Now configure it for effective team collaboration.

What to Do Next?

After successfully creating an organization, we recommend the following steps:

Start Building Your Team

  • Navigate to the “Members” section in the organization profile
  • Send email invitations to colleagues
  • Assign roles during invitation or later
  • Track the status of all invitations

Invitations are sent via email with a unique link to join the organization.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many organizations can I create?

There are no limits on the number of organizations. You can create as many organizations as needed for your projects and teams. Each organization is completely independent.

Can I rename an organization after creation?

Yes, the organization name can be changed at any time in the organization settings. However, the URL identifier cannot be changed — it remains unchanged from the moment of creation.

How do I delete an organization?

Only the organization owner can delete it. Go to organization settings in the ORG application and select the delete option. This action is irreversible — all organization data will be permanently deleted. We recommend using the archive function before deletion.

Who becomes the organization owner?

The user who created the organization automatically becomes its owner. The owner has full control over the organization, including the right to transfer ownership to another member or delete the organization.

Can I change the organization type?

Yes, the organization type can be changed at any time in the organization settings. The organization type only affects display and does not limit functionality.

What if the URL identifier is already taken?

URL identifiers are unique system-wide. If your chosen identifier is taken, try adding a clarification (e.g., my-company-dev, my-company-2025) or use a different name.
